Sekou McMiller is the Artistic Director/Instructor/Performer ofDescarga Caribe Dance Company.Sekou's unique style of Salsa/Mambo, rich with Afro-Cuban and Afro-American essence and laced with techniques from many genres of dance, has earned Sekou broad recognition in the United States and world wide. His dance company Descarga Caribe is known for their seamless choreographies, synchronization and amazing body movement.Sekou has instructed and performed at Salsa Congresses in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Houston, Chicago. Puerto Rico, Japan and Canada as well as the New Orleans Mardi Gras Mambo and Dance Chicago. In addition Sekou has conducted workshops in New York, Chicago, LA, Seoul, Tokyo, San Diego, Seattle, New Orleans, Miami, Toronto, Dallas and Boston. |

Leah was born a double aquarian with a cancer rising in the year of the dragon. If you know even a little about astrology, you know a lot about her already. She focused mainly on jazz, tap, and ballet in her younger years, though most of her dancing was done at house parties and clubs to classic Chicago House, Deep House, and Hip-Hop. She attended Howard University for Chemical Engineering and there in DC is where she learned to dance "On1". |

Shaka Brown is actually the first person she remembers who showed her "On2" and once she finally "got it", she fell in love with the feel of it. When she joined Descarga Caribeat it's inception, she was strictly a social dancer, dancing for joy and not for perfection. Accepting the invitation to the group changed Leah?s focus to intentionality. She considers her choreographed dancing uniquely expressing the choreographer's interpretation of a song within the framework of a unified presentation. It continues to be a joy and as a principal dancer in Descarga Caribe, she enjoys the challenge. Her newest joys are choreographing and performing with Del Dominguez, fellow company member, on couple pieces. |
