Check on the lady's shoulder

The man checks the lady with his hand on her shoulder in a shadow position.

The example (on the right) shows a check where the man uses his right hand to check the lady on her right shoulder. This check can happen in a normal, crossed or NO hold. Note that when the man checks the lady in a normal or crossed hold, he holds the lady's hand with the hand not used for the check.
