What is this?

The purpose of this site is to help salsa dancers, students in particular, to choose what music to purchase for their enjoinment and for their practice.

Please note: this site is completely independent and non-commercial. We do not receive any commission from any on-line stores or distributors. Our recommendations are genuine and simply the expression of our taste and opinion.

We dance because we love salsa music, so the music is always our greatest concern. When we started dancing, we found it very hard to obtain information about what CDs to buy, which were the iconic bands, which style is which, and what music is best suited to the dance style we were learning. After many years, many $s, and many disappointments, we finally have a certain knowledge and a decent collection. The purpose of this page is for you to avoid having to go through this path too. We put this knowledge to your avail so that, hopefully, you will cover the same search faster and more cheaply.

You will find plenty of other salsa CDs reviews pages on the net. We recommend you make use of them to check the opinion of more people and to widen your knowledge. This site differs from others because the reviews are made by people who not only have music knowledge, not only are musicians, but, most important, are dancers; this info is provided by dancers for dancers.

Obviously ‘beauty is in the eyes of the beholder’, so the music we like may not be of your favourite. We have a huge collection, we have been listening to any sort of salsa for many years now, and we have used some of this music to teach beginners to advanced classes; still, tastes are personal, so the comments in this site only reflect our liking and our opinion. If you like the same music we do, you will find this site very useful. If you don’t, hopefully you will find the information provided consistent enough to still be of some use of it.

To make sense of the information we provide, have a look at our classification method. And don’t forget to send us your feedback, if some information which you think might be useful is currently missing.
